Rules
- Warnings — We keep a 3 strike rule; this means two warnings, then removal from the fleet. Some rules, when broken, are grounds for summary dismissal. These will be noted in the rule itself.
- Age — 18 plus. This is intended to keep the atmosphere friendly and mature.
- Language — While we don’t want to hear you swearing every other word, swearing occasionally is not a problem; if you swear repeatedly, or use it as a slur or against someone, you will be warned, and finally removed from the fleet. Intentional racism/prejudice/intolerance is grounds for summary dismissal.
- Drama — We know you have a life outside the fleet, and we don’t want to penalise you for it. Please leave any issues at the door. Generally, we’re not going to stop you discussing a bad day if you need to vent, but if you’re asked to stop (at the discretion of officers) then please, do so.
- Activity — We reserve the right to kick you if you are inactive and we have population issues. You are welcome to return, and if you are kicked by accident (note that there are no tools in game to show inactivity times, so we have to rely on memory and the forums), please give one of us a poke and remind us that you’re around. We’re not perfect, and we know you may have your reasons. If you have a chance, please let us know you are going to be inactive and again, if possible, for how long.
- Ranking/promotion — New recruits start at “Recruit” rank. One week of service and activity (noticeable presence in-game, on the forums, in Ventrilo, on the Steam Community, etc.) is required to be promoted to Flight Member. Any outstanding service to the fleet will allow for promotion to Flight Élite, and any person wishing to serve as a recruiter may apply to become a Recruitment Officer.
- Recruitment — You are welcome to recruit anyone you feel will complement the fleet at any time. However, do not spam Zone chat or forums in an attempt to recruit. Recruitment Officers are expected to actively read the STO Fleet Registration Station forum (once per week), bump the fleet advertisement post if necessary (once per day, try not to double post if possible) and offer invites to suitable candidates in “searching for fleet” posts (discretionary).
- Bank Access — Recruits have access to donate items and credits to the bank, members and above have access to take items from the bank. This will prevent bank theft from new members. Anybody placing tribbles in the fleet bank will be summarily stunned, tarred and feathered. They multiply like, well, tribbles…
- Dates — Given that we are multinational, to avoid confusion, dates are posted in the form YYYY/MM/DD — that means 2010/01/21 is Year 2010, January 21st — This could be shortened to function as stardates (20100121.1427 being 2:27pm on the same date as before), but I would rather not add to the confusion.
- Deportment — That means how you come across in-game, and on forums. Do not troll, bash or otherwise cause problems for others; we pride ourselves on our friendliness, courteousness, and maturity. Anyone found doing otherwise will receive a warning, and be required to apologise in the same manner in which they slighted the victim.
- Appeals — You have the right to appeal to the officers if you feel you have been unjustly warned/punished. Do not post in public, but respond to an officer other than the one who gave you the warning. In all cases, the decision will be examined by the officers and overturned where necessary. We are human and we do make mistakes; we do try to fix them.
- Rule completeness — These rules may be incomplete; if a situation occurs where these rules do not cover them, we will attempt to resolve the solution as fairly as possible. If suitable, new rules will be drafted, or additions made to existing rules to cover the situation in the future.
